Adinath Bhagwan is the first Jain Tirthankara, who is also known as Rishabhadeva. He is the son of Brahmadeva and Sunanda. His birth date is unknown but he is believed to have lived around 877-777 BCE. He renounced his material wealth and became an ascetic at the age of 30. After 12 years of meditation, he attained Kevala Jnana and became a Jain monk. He preached Jainism for 72 years and attained moksha at the age of 100. Adinath Bhagwan is worshipped by the Jain community with great reverence. His aarti is sung with devotion and love. The aarti starts with the chanting of his name, followed by a prayer asking for his blessings. The aarti ends with the singing of his glory.
