Hartalika Teej is an important Hindu festival for married women, celebrated all over India. It is a three day long celebration which marks the arrival of the monsoon season and marks the union between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It celebrates their eternal love, devotion, and dedication towards each other. The ceremonial Pooja involves praying to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, offering them flowers and sweets, and lighting diyas (small lamps). Women wear traditional attire such as green saris/sarees or lehengas to honor them during this time.

The festivity of Hartalika Teej symbolizes prosperity, good luck, health, wealth and happiness in the home. The festival also encourages women to take part in cultural activities such as singing devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati as well as performing traditional dance forms like Bhangra & Giddha. Through these activities they pray for a prosperous life for their families and loved ones.
